Just a couple of quick questions before I decide to order/join the group buy:
1) So this is fully compatible with cars with the Bose system? Is it just the amp level setting or whatever that was used in the previous version? Do I still need to mod the wiring behind the unit?
This question's for anyone else that has an answer for me, since I'm inexperienced when it comes to car audio:
2) If I wanted to add a subwoofer (in addition to the existing Bose sub I have), how would I go about this? Is it just splitting the sub output between both subs?
I'm basically functionally clueless when it comes to anything electrical, so any help would be appreciated.
1. Yes, it is fully compatible with cars with the Bose system, just plug and play. But if the unit's sound is too lound, then you can set the AMP to 25%.
2. The unit has the Subwoofer outputs for external Subwoofer, so please rest assured.
Just a heads up, bluetooth has no quality increase in the 4.0 spec. There are 2 levels of bluetooth audio quality available to us (and have been for a while);
SBC: This was introduced to the A2DP profile in bluetooth 1.3 and is a royalty free modified version of mpeg 2 audio (DVD audio). This is what the far majority of headphones, speakers, and phones use. The audio codec isn't actually bad (DVD audio was an audiophiles wet dream after VHS/Tape, laserdisc, and video cd) but no matter the codec, recompressing a compressed stream (which is what all the music on your phone would be) can really drop the audio quality.
aptX: Several years ago a company designed and licensed a proprietary A2DP codec to replace SBC. Not only did it offer higher bitrates (it was based on higher bluetooth standards which offered faster speeds than 1.3) but it was designed to have a minimum impact in quality loss when recompressing compressed music. The downside is it is not widespread in use, mostly because it needs to be supported in HARDWARE (on both ends) and does not come as a software update. It also cost manufacturers money in licensing fees. You will find many android flagship phones support it (LG is a big supporter putting it even their budget VOLT phone, although NONE of Apples devices support it) but it is a 2 way street, your headphones/speaker/deck unit needs to support aptX as well.
In my last car I used a USB powered bluetooth receiver attached to the line in of my deck, the receiver supported aptX. On my new Mazda with Connect I found the bass takes a huge hit over its SBC based bluetooth so instead I copied my music to a usb stick and just play my music off that. It sounds great and it offloads work from my phone.
Hi JeffMD, have you bought GA6151F? And it has no quality increase in the 4.0 spec? Could you pls PM me your email address and order No. first? So that we can help you better, thanks.
I am tempted in getting one of these, but I'm not convinced that it works better than my phone being on a phone mount. I think it would get kind of annoying to have to enable wifi hotspot when I get in the car if I want to have data for live traffic on google maps. I would also have to figure out a way to update my podcasts automatically. The only real advantage I see would be a massive upgrade in sound quality compared to the bluetooth fm transmitter I'm using now.
I would also like to be on the GB. One question, right now on the website, the unit is being sold with a back-up camera for free. Is it possible the GB includes this as well?
Hi hellboy2000, I would like to tell you that G2110's screen mirroring function is only compatible with IOS phones at present, thanks for your kind understanding.
Hi guys, today, I would like to share with you some awesome installation pics of GA6151FAndroid Car DVD Player from our fans:
Kindly noted: Since the GA6151F is really welcomed, so it is on low stock now. If you guys want to enjoy the unit in advance, please place the GB order ASAP, cheers.
Anyone else having issues with a buzzing noise?
I have the Bose system but this model is supposed to support Bose completely. This seems to be a similar buzz mentioned in the forum for the GA5151F that was not compatible. Doesn't go away if muted or the volume is at minimum. It only goes away when the head unit is powered off.
@stephenhayworth, please kindly set it by this way for checking, thanks: settings --- factory settings -- input password 126 ---> AMP Volume---25% --- click APPLY. ( You need to click APPLY, then it will be OK) Please have a try now, thanks.
Hi guys, please do not worry, since GA6151F Android Car DVD Player is doing group buy, there are so many guys to buy it, so it is out of stock suddenly. But great news to tell you that it has come back today, we will send the product to you ASAP, and the tracking No. will be sent to your email, so please kindly wait and check your email later, thanks.
I got mine earlier this week from the GB, I ordered within a day or two after GB opened.
FYI, you will need the bottom white clips from your stock radio.
To remove the white clips from your stock unit, you will need to carefully spread the tabs away from each other at the same time (red arrows) so that the green circled area opens up and then you can slide it off. I had to push the outer white tab in so that I can stick a thin flat tool in the inner white tab for leverage because of the tight spot.

I just got mine today and have a few questions. I did not need the clips as tmpz mentioned mine fit just fine and I needed them for the ga5151 4.2 unit. I am having issues with the control settings not doing anything. Cant set clock or any of those functions it does nothing. Also I have tried using other apps to control music since the default ones do not have sorting by artist or anything that I can find. I tried out the old headunit app from the ga5151 and it has the forward and reverse from the steering wheel controls backwards. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for another controller for the steering wheel controls or a different media player they know works.
Hi mate, no worry we will try our best to help you.
For your questions, please check as follows: 1. Please enter factory setting and check if you have set the CANBUS option as 44 MAZDA&OPEL(Raise). 2. If the CANBUS has been set correctly, please reconnect the power cable and CANBUS again to try the steering wheel control function again. 3. Our Android units can’t support controlling the 3rd party music APP. Hope you understand, thanks!
Alright so I got into the factory settings and it sure was set for 44 MAZDA&OPEL(Raise). I was able to resolve my issue with prev/reverse steering wheel controls inside that factory settings menu by reversing it through that check box(hope thats okay). I even tried swapping it and reapplying to mazda and upon reboot I still cant do anything inside control settings. None of the buttons in that app do anything. I had a similiar problem with the GA5151 but the only thing I couldnt do was get to the MPG setting through holding the okay button. I believe everything else worked fine.
Another thing I noticed was after about an hour or so of driving, randomly a angled square thats yellow with a red ! comes up, music stops for this time period. So for about 10 seconds then music resumes as the screen disapears and everything is fine.
EDIT : Figured out the red ! is for backup camera and you can adjust it so there is 0 volume reduction in the settings so that is also figured out. Now I still dont have control settings working but thats the only thing left
Hi TheGeneralCS, have you tried reconnect the power cable and CANBUS again? If you have tried that and the steering wheel controls still can't work, please tell us your Email, order No. or serial No. of the unit, we will help you further, thanks!
Alright so Im trying to adjust the LCD clock the red unit that mounts to your unit. It is currently 1 hour ahead since I tried to reset it at noon, didnt work for some reason. I turn on the unit(car on or acc doesnt matter), I can not find a said "mode" in settings or anything. I cant get the LCD to get into the SETTINGS mode to adjust clock. Inside the original car information APP which has the control settings nothing in that APP does anything. Cant change songs, CD, Radio, none of those do anything. When I had the GA5151 I went in this app held down SET or CLOCK and it would allow me to change the clock accordingly. This was the only way I knew how to use it. I never got into the settings that was built into that LCD. I must be doing something wrong but from your unit I dont know how to get into the settings of the LCD as it was originally configured from mazda as I can not find a MODE. I have tried your remote that comes with the unit and all that does is change from like CD, to nav, to bluetooth.
So Im not sure how from your directions how to get under this SETTINGS mode. The settings APP looks like a standard android interface with no MODE.
Im dumb, after listening to the common sense of RogT we are all set, to set time and MPG, all can be done by pressing and holding mode on the steering wheel and you cycle through MPG or clock with up, and down to set clock
Hi TheGeneralCS, great job! :grin2: Congratulations for working it out finally!
